CATS FOR ADOPTION

Two adorable kittens sitting on a blue blanket.

How To Adopt

Sometimes in our TNVR journey, we find cats and kittens who our team determines to be better suited to a life indoors. These sweet souls are often cats who have been dumped and would love a second chance at life.

The kittens or cats listed below have been assessed, vetted and are ready for adoption viewings.

Please follow these steps to start the adoption process:

  1. Complete a viewing application and apply to view the cat you are interested in
  2. After visiting the kitty in person, complete an adoption application.
  3. Wait for the application to be processed, then complete the adoption agreement.
  4.  Arrange to take home your new friend!

Home Inspections

We reserve the right to do home inspections where we deem appropriate.

Adoption Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at oxfordcountyfelinewellness@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Every cat and kitten adopted through our rescue receives age-appropriate veterinary care before heading to their new home. Depending on their age, this may include:

  • A full veterinary examination
  • Spay or neuter surgery (or a voucher for a future date if too young when adopted)
  • Core vaccinations
  • Deworming
  • Flea and parasite treatment (if needed)
  • Microchip
  • FIV/FeLV testing (when appropriate)

Our goal is to ensure every cat starts their next chapter healthy and ready to thrive.

Kittens learn important social skills by growing up with other kittens. They teach each other appropriate play, help burn off endless kitten energy, and provide companionship while you're at work or asleep.

Single Kitten Syndrome is a real behavioural concern that can lead to biting, destructive play, anxiety, and loneliness later in life.

For that reason, we require all kittens under approximately one year of age to be adopted in pairs.

Two kittens often make the transition easier, keep each other entertained, and usually settle into family life much more quickly.

Preference is given to adopters who adopt kittens in pairs.

Our adoption fees help offset a portion of the veterinary care, food, litter, and daily expenses invested in each cat while they are in foster care.

Current adoption fees are:

  • Kittens: $ 275 (Two for $490)
  • Adult Cats: $200

Although the adoption fee rarely covers all of the costs we've invested, it allows us to continue rescuing more cats in need.

Absolutely.

Adopting a new pet is exciting, but it's also normal to have questions as everyone settles in. Our team is happy to provide guidance on:

  • Introducing your new cat to other pets
  • Helping them adjust to their new home
  • Behaviour questions
  • Feeding and litter concerns
  • General cat care

When you adopt from us, you're joining our rescue family, and we're here to help long after adoption day.

A little preparation goes a long way! Here are a few tips to help your new family member settle in:

  • Prepare a quiet room where they can decompress for the first few days.
  • Give them time to explore at their own pace. Every cat adjusts differently.
  • Keep food, water, litter, and cozy hiding places nearby.
  • Stick to a consistent routine for feeding and playtime.
  • Be patient. Some cats settle in within hours, while others may take several weeks to feel completely at home.
  • If you're introducing them to other pets, do so gradually using slow, supervised introductions.

The first few weeks are all about building trust. With patience, consistency, and love, you'll be giving your new companion the best possible start.

We understand that sometimes unexpected situations arise. If you're experiencing challenges, please reach out to us before making any decisions. We can often provide advice or resources to help.

If you are ever unable to keep your adopted cat, our adoption agreement requires that they be returned to our rescue. We are committed to ensuring every cat remains safe and never ends up in a shelter or an unsafe situation.
